Most things one buys these days, will be claim to be ECO friendly. But what does this mean when it comes to cordless phones.
Well, simply put, the power consumption and transmission power (when the phone is near the base unit) on the phone are reduced. Naturally this means that less energy is used, which can only be a good thing.
Don’t worry, there will be no loss in quality, nor for that matter are the components in the phone different. All that’s happened is that the phone software’s have gotten a bit cleverer. They know when to power down to conserve energy. Most home phones will now also be supplied with a slightly different type of power supply, which also uses less energy.
On some phones, such as the new Siemens Gigaset range, you can even lower the transmission power manually which can reduce consumption by up to 60%. Pretty incredible if all household could reduce their power consumption by this amount on one device alone.
