About Brother Brother Industries Ltd. is a diversified Japanese company with principal activities in the manufacture and sales of sewing machines, home-use machines, knitting machines, manual and electronic typewriters, faxes, printers, printing equipment, keyboards and electronic stationery. Established at Nagoya, Japan in 1908 under the name Yasui Sewing Machine Co, the corporate name was subsequently changed to Brother Industries, Ltd. in 1962 to keep up with its rapid expansion.
