finally just what i wanted!

At last, after spending weeks looking for a half decent phone for my home office i finally found it, albeit at a price. I wanted a CORDED, phone with a built in answering machine and hands free. I found a phone fitting the bill for £15 and yes you guessed it, it was c**p! Poor mike and earpiece i had clients telling me they could not hear me on conference calls. I could find phones that either had hands free or an answer machine but not both and most shops tried to sell me a cordless phone (as soon as you hit the hands free the lot falls over!). This phone does the lot, you almost do not need the instructions it is that simple to use, it is clear, the handsfree is great and it even stands up a bit on your desk for easy rapid dialling. I LOVE IT!

The BT Paragon 650 does the functions which it states, but the ring tones are not what we imagined, a normal ringtone would have made it perfect. All in all the design looks good. jlmacd

I, too, bought one of these phones despite reading the reviews regatding the poor choice of ringtones. All I wanted was a good ol' fashioned 'ring-ring' but no, all you get is polyphonic nonsense. HOWEVER, and get this, we suffered a power cut recently and, whilst obviously none of the features on the phone worked due to no power,the line still does. Someone rang the house and guess what the Paragon 650 does......yup, it goes plain old 'ring ring' What a wind-up!! Try unplugging the power supply from yours and ring your number and you will see what I mean. Ringtones aside - it is a great phone though.

There is only one ringing sound that is anything like a 'normal' telephone! (All the rest are poly-wally-doodles or whatever they call them!?) BT say they are going green and therefore only a basic operation sheet is supplied with the phone and it is up to the buyer to print (and therefore pay!) for manual which will reveal ALL the facilities! peacewatch

I am quite happy with this product. It does what it says on the box and was easy-peasy to set up: I did it without reading the instructions just before going to bed And got it right first time!I do wish there was a normal ringtone as all these electronic demented tunes are really a bit hard on the ear, but that is a small point...and it means I try to get to the phone real fast to stop the noise!

...appreciate that many phones are a lot cheaper than this one - but there are few that have a digital answerphone - telephone directory - hands free and headset connector - the icing was the ability to take my mobile sim card and populate the directory in one go from the sim - great to have all the gizmo's in one phone for a change and not have to comprimise. .......only annoying thing so far is that the ring tones are polyphonic - a great gimic for about two days and then I long for the standard analogue ring tones which dont seem to be on the phone....... but would be a small negative in an otherwise very positive purchase.... tom

It works
Bad points This was bought to repalce a BT essi com, that has developed a fault after many years of great service. This phone is rubbish by comparison. Poor layout, non illuminated display, display too small, poor design etc. Other thoughts Only buy if you are desperate!

ring tone are a joke as it's supposed to be an office phone, the caller display is not coordinated so cannot see the number when listening to the call, overall a great phone not perfect but getting very close, clear sound and easy to operate display could be brighter. septimus

Slow addressbook response.Extension rings three times before this phone picks up.Poor ring tone selection - which in my case was faulty so I lost a number of calls.For an expensive busness phone I found this phone very poor. It has some good points

Very easy to use, the very brief instructions of how to set time and date and how to make a call list are very clear. i like this phone very much, it also lokks and fells good.
Bad points Some people have commented on its polyphonic ringtone...it does not bother me, at least you can hear it and it is also melodious. Other thoughts I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to my friends.

Bad points Ring tones are strange and not enough to choose from. Normal ring tones not available only "silly" tunes or beeps. Volumn could be louder - set on max but still quiet.
