iDECT X1 Additional Handset Black review

Already have one of these little things, and don’t be fooled by that picture: it’s a lot smaller than it appears. It’s so aesthetically pleasing, I could go on and on about the way it looks! I especially like the very minimalist approach it has to its keypad.
But there is a lot more to this phone than just good looks. It’s smaller than a lot of similarly-priced handsets in the market, and it has all the basic features one would want in a telephone of its kind. Its sound quality is actually at par with some other more expensive models. Being a X1 user for the past 6 months, I knew I had to jump at this limited offer!
As per usual, ligo delivered my purchase quickly, and I immediately unpacked the unit and registered it on my base station. Well, I shouldn’t say immediately. There are several steps (!) you have to do when you register and I failed about twice before I got it right. The manual of my base station says that you have to do each step quickly one after the other so I suggest you read the manual a couple of times because referring back and forth really made it a bit difficult and confusing for me. But aside from the (very minor) difficulty I had with installing the additional handset, I am completely pleased with this product.

The iDECT X1 handset is first class. It has a really good range and is easy to get used to.
I would recommend it most highly for both looks and performance. Ligo Electronics not only deliver the goods, they deliver the service.

I like this phone system but the replacement is for one that has expired while still quite new. New one is fine.

Having purchased a twin set of these a few months ago, when it came the time to extend our telephony options round the house, it made sense to buy another handset. Unfortunately, there isn't an answer machine version so we have to have a separate one of those. There are things I don't like - firstly, the tiny buttons but I think I've mastered those now. Secondly, why do I have to program my favourite numbers in every handset individually - surely the technology should be around to allow stored numbers to be kept in the base unit and available to all handsets? What I do like is the feel of it, it's lightness, it's coolness (goes very well in our modern decor) and it's excellent wireless capability. Setting up the additional handset was not a problem so long as you read the instructions first! Lastly, I really like the hands free capability which I now use all the time - I've never been happy having to hold a phone (including mobiles) tight up against my ear for any length of time. So all in all, a nice cool looking, efficient piece of kit.
