Hi Fritz, Please find the steps in registering the cordless headset to phone base station below: Step 1: Put your phone into registration mode Locate the page/intercom/find button on your phone’s base unit (this is the bigger unit which is plugged into your phone point). Push the button and hold it for 3-5 seconds –you may hear a beep or a pulsing sound after doing this (depending on the model of the phone). The phone is now in registration mode and ready to be registered with the headset. Step 2: Registering the headset Locate the mute/volume adjust button at the top/back of the headset. Push this button in (as if you were muting the call) and hold it down for around 4-6 seconds. Your headset and phone should now be registered and you should hear a dialing tone when using the headset. For incoming calls you would simply need to press the answer button on the headset to answer/end the call. To make an outbound call using the headset, you need to make the call on your cordless handset and then transfer the call to your headset. Please refer to the manual for this process (this is the same as transferring a call from one handset to another).

the over 70's and new technology!
Anonymous
Parcel arrived very promptly and worked right away! and the biggest bonus the instructions were in fairly plain English, even I could work out how to put numbers in my phone book, first time ever. I dont suppose I shall ever learn how to use all the clever bits but as I'm of a generation that wants a phone to be a phone I am quite happy. The second handset is very useful as I can have it permanently along side my chair or take it around the garden, and the ring is nice and loud! Glad I stuck to BT, thanks

Good points
The handset and base look nice and the handsets handle well. The screen is clear, the menu is easy to use and installation is straightforward. Copying contacts from a mobile SIM card is very useful, as is having a separate contact list in each handset. Editing the directory is easy and copying the directory from handset to handset provides a quick installation. The intercom facility is also very useful. I have not used the answerphone in anger yet. On the whole, I am pleased with my purchase and recommend the product.
Bad points The only problem so far is that one of the handsets, two rooms distant from the base station, keeps dropping the wireless signal to the base. This may be because it is sited next to my large desk-top PC and wireless broad-band router. I didn't have this problem with the old Philips Zenia though. One other point is that the base station requires a handset to be placed on the base in order for it to be registered, which means it is not possible to register other types of handset with this base station. This cordless tlephone system is, in my opinion, expensive, although it was my choice based on specification and design, rather than price. Other thoughts There should be more openness of design of base stations in general, allowing different manufacturer's handsets to be registered with different base stations. Ken

An update to the review: I have now successfully registered my Skype CIT200 telephone with the BT 6450 Diverse base and one of the BT Diverse handsets with the CIT200 base, proving that the two systems are compatible. liGo

A very interesting point and thank you for letting us know. Eeek

Did you manage to overcome the problem with dropping the signal from the base as I have the same problem? Second handset is next to pc with wireless broadband router and it keeps cutting off when there is an incoming call. I was trying to find out what frequency it transmits on to select a different channel on my router but can't seem to find that info

A real gem!
Simon, Surrey
This is a great phone, packed with features. First, and most importantly, sound quality is good. It's easy to get your address book stored on it - you simply put your mobile's SIM card into a little tray and within a few seconds you are set up. The address book is easy to search as well. It can send SMS messages as well and has some nice advanced features, like setting up different ring tones and different pictures for each caller. These can also be downloaded from a pc, if you can be bothered. It has a good hands free mode so all the family can chat to Granny at the same time. The answerphone is neatly integrated and easy to use. Downsides? It doesn't have speed dial (although you can set up a close alternative) and whilst the styling is miles better than some cheaper phones, is still isn't 100% slick. However, at the Ligo prices, it is fantastic value for money.

Good points
Good range of features and easy to connect
Bad points When on base, handset remains permanently lit -unnecessary, and a nuisance in the bedroom. Additions to directory not automatically sent to the extra handsets. James

You can put the handsets into power saving mode and the screens will blank?

Better than our Panasonic was.
Pauline Whyte
We had a Panasonic for about a year, but it kept developing faults, which was why we decided to buy another phone so soon. The BT Diverse 6450 DECT has been a much better phone, particularly with regard to the ear piece. On the Panasonic KXTCD580 it you moved the handset a little it became difficult to hear the caller, but there are no such difficulties with the Diverse 6450. We wanted a phone with answering machine that we could use hands free, particularly with an ear piece, and that's pretty much all we use it as. I like being able to switch the ringer off on the base station and the handset as I do meditation and therapy work, and it's great to be able to silence both pieces of equipment very easily from the handset. I believe we've received an SMS message on it, but we're unlikely to be using it for that ourselves. The phone probably actually does more than we need, but it does everything we wanted, so we're very happy with it. Being able to change the wallpaper on the display, and the various ringer options is fun. The only thing I'm a bit disappointed about is the size of the handset. I was after something very neat to carry around in my pocket, and it's a bit awkward for that, but that's the only negative comment I have to make about it.

We use this phone in all our sales offices - our managers find it comfortable to hold and use - answer phone very easy to use
Bad points Some BT features (eg smart divert) activated by menus rather than Bt codes

Good quality producy

An excellent phone with a clear colour LCD and better sound reproduction than most of its competitors that we have tried. Our only problem was that 1571 kicked in before the answering machine but cured this by switching off the 1571 service.

Iwas unhappy with this item.It is over complicated, and the buttons are too small and close together for my wife who has mild arthritis. My ideal was the bt Diverse 2015, which had everything a cordless 'phone should have for normal use. Also the 'phone seemed to have been used at least 20 times before I received it. One of its complications is that it records all calls made

Great phone but....
Neil
Have to admit I like just about everything about the 6450 apart from the very cheap looking main base unit and, my biggest gripe of all, the poor handset naming feature. Why poor? What is the point of having a handset naming feature if you cannot then make internal calls to handets by seeing the name given to them in a list. A real opportunity missed if you ask me. Why be able to name handsets only to then have to remember what number each handset is when you want to call another handset or transfer a call to one. Real let down in my opinion. If it had this feature I would give it 5 stars. Anyone know of a phone which has this feature?

Impressed
Mrs. cheryl quarry
I am delighted with the 6450 telephone. I particularly enjoyed downloading my address book from my mobile phone sim card. The answer phone is clear. The set up was simple and quick to do. The handset is clear and in colour and the digits feel comfortable to use.

Excellent phone - shame about my hair

This is a really nice phone: good clear sound (at ear or on hands free - not tried the ear-piece yet), noticeably better reception than my previous BT DECT phone and a very clean easy-to-use interface. The whole interface is menu driven, very nicely integrated with the base and, while not quite up to Nokia standards, is pretty close to what you expect from a mobile and nicely backwards compatible in interaction style with my previous BT phone. Only one gripe: You can assign a photo to callers which is displayed when they call - neat, but it sticks a big window over the photo saying who's calling. Took me 5 minutes to stop my wife giggling at my bald head pocking out above the window!! My first order from Ligo and very happy with the service from them - fast and smooth. Alas, the phone's so good I doubt I'll be back for a while...

excellent especially SIM. transfer
Dr. Peter Reide
Really good phone. intuitive easy to navigate menu system (in colour which makes it pleasant to use). My reason for choosing this model was the SIM card reader, as I am too lazy to type in all my friends and familys numbers in manually. Worked like a dream - 140 numbers transferred in 2 minutes, instead of the hours it would take to do it by hand. |
