SIEMENS GIGASET SL565 BLUETOOTH® CORDLESS PHONE REVIEW
Great phone - miles btter than Panasonic and BT,

I decided to replace my Panasonic phones as they were always a bit quiet and never quite worked properly. I went into my local Comet and bought the most expensive they did - a trio of the BT Synergy 4500s. Got these home and they were soooo bad. Feedback whistles, interference from anywhere in the house, a clicking in your ear when you speak and hissy reception at the other end. I took them back and was amazed by the attitude of the sales manager who reluctantly gave me a refund.
Then I ordered three of the Siemens SL565s and what a difference. Great looking phones, crystal clear sound, packed with features and also - a great unmentioned featured - the base station is not the charger for the first handset and has its own power supply. So you can tuck it away near a phone point and have the phone chargers where you really want them. That saves the cost of a handset for me. Definitely worth paying a bit more for. Then there's the Ligo service. I ordered in my Monday lunch break and they were delivered at 9:30 the next morning. Well done guys - great site, great service. Regards Peter Ebdon

Fantastic phone. Replacing many useless BT, Motorola, Philips and Panasonic handsets. All with their different good points and all with their faults or failings - non satisfactory.
The SL565 was easy to set up, is easy to use, looks fantastic and has features not found on any other DECT phone. The Bluetooth feature is a blessing when transferring data from mobiles direct to the phone book - saved hours of typing. So far I have found nothing that I dislike and everything that I like! Excellent all round phones, we are not using all the facilities yet, teenagers customise there own, and infants can use easily, silver navigate button fell off one(poss kid miss use!) easy repaired, all still look and work as new and numbers cannot wear off like other manufacturers. Only critism is that there's no page function from the base like other manufacturers when you've lost 'yes' all 6 around the house--but when you find one its easy to page individual handsets, other manufacturers paging will page all handsets waking everybody up). Excellent service from ligo even when contacted over above fault. Had panasonic previously for many years, ok.

Looks sexy, works as well as it looks and 2 minutes to set up. Exceptional crisp quality sound and you can walk to the end of my street and still be in range

What a cordless phone ststem should be!! Crystal clear sound. Works brilliantly with the 'Plantronics' headset too. Nice touches like being able to divert calls to answer machine, listen to the person leaving the message & then having the option to pick up the call show just how well thought out the user functionality of this phone system is. If only all cordless phones worked this well.

This is a very good phone. I have a pair and have made out of plastic extrusion a neat stand for both. So that it does not have to be in the charger all the time or just laying around on a coffee table. Once you have set up the brilliant voice dialing and put all your numbers in the phone book there is no need to have trouble with operating the keys. Myself I did not have any trouble using the buttons. I cannot think that there can be a better cordless phone. much better than the magicbox we had before. dave

This is one great phone. For me the sound quality was very important and even on speakerphone it's great.

Great service and very pleased with phone. Good audio quality, simple to set up and use. Bluetooth a great bonus. Charger connection a little dodgy as mentioned elsewhere, but hey! be careful.

I'm very happy with this phone. Siemens seems to be the only decent alternative to all the crappy Philips and Panasonic phones available at Currys without having to spend £200 or more at Bang and Olufsen.
The sound quality is fantastic and the features are impressive. My only complaint (the reason I gave 4 stars, not 5 stars), is that the Bluetooth vcard transfer doesn't always work. You sometimes have to try 2 or 3 times. Otherwise, great! Regards George

Fabulous phone with many many great features,by far the best being the astonishing speakerphone which works for me at up to 15 feet!!! Cannot recommend this highly sophisticated and stylish phone enough. 10/10 !!!

Having purchased the SL565 I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent build quality and overall look and feel. I immediately paired my Bluetooth headset (Sony Ericsson) which worked perfectly. I did find the software to sync your phone book a little poor, and the other problem was the mute function didn’t allow you to just mute the call and hear the caller which is a real shame as working from home with kids having a proper mute is very hand. To get around this problem I bought the Plantronics C65 DECT Headset which works very well with the SL565.
Overall an excellent phone, my satisfaction with the phone is second only to the help and assistance from the Ligo team. Regards Andy

A quick look at its list of features convinced me to purchase this unit for my home office. I needed a DECT phone that looks great but works even better. I found the voice quality impressive and the Bluetooth and skype connectivity really came in handy. However, I did find the “plasticky” feel of the phone keys disappointing. Overall, I can say I’m more or less satisfied with my purchase.

Had this 3 weeks now, in daily use. Compared against it's rival Bluetooth cordless the BT Glide, this one is several times better. It doesn’t freeze or crash like the BT Glide currently does (I know, I had 3 different ones & they all did – in September 2006). It responds correctly to most of the Bluetooth headset 1-button commands, include answer call, end call, & voice dialling (BT Glide currently doesn’t). Overall it’s well engineered and with all the main useful features, as one expects from German products.

Having initially purchased another brand for a new home phone, which had to be returned twice due to latent faults, I was a little disheartened with the whole phone buying experience.
Not anymore. This phone is fantastic. Lots of features, which at first sound a little daunting, but the phone menus are very well laid out and easy to understand. Within minutes of initial use, the phone was set up and all contacts from my mobile had been bluetoothed accross. Very stylish looking phone and well built. The service from Ligo was first class. I am very familiar with electronics and i know good productc from bad. people have said that the keys are too small. I am a male painist with moderately large hands, and don't have any problems with the keypad. i think possibly for women with long finger nails it could be awkward. Battery last long. With all the features that waste the battery it takes 3.5 days for the phone to die down when new. (Thats with bloothooth on and backround light on)
Great phone. Its woth your while....the bloothooth is great...u can use any blootooth head set, so if you have on for you mobile....try it. The ONLY problem i've had is trasfering some small bmp files from my mobile to the SL565 phone. But seriously great phone. WORTH THE MONEY, definately!! Regards Levie

I was attracted to this phone by it's looks - I think it looks great!
I reviewed all the spec. etc. and it seemed to measure up for tech. ability too. It was easy to set-up and so far I'm happy with it. Easy to operate and navigate the menues. Sound quality seems fine. I can't comment on the answer machine as I don't use it. Keys are v.small and flush and right next to each other - just like a cell phone. They don't give much touch response, but they're OK. One thing to be aware of which could become an issue; the power cradle design means that the actual pin on the cradle that the phone plugs in to, is not supported or protected in anyway. It jutts above the cradle and strikes me it's just asking to be snapped off when the phone is on the cradle and for what ever reason, it's not handled very carefully. Even being aware of this I fear a future, accident! I'd suggest it's not a practicle design if you've got kids. I give it 3 stars because v.few things are ever worth 5, and it looses 1 because of the cradle/pin issue. Still, it looks great! Regards Atreides - London

Generally I am happy witht the design and use of the phone but I am not happy with some points. Initially I bought the phone and the front direction button fell of whihch suprised me as I thought Seimens products would be of good quality. I decided to just repar it myself and put some small drops of super glue on to fix it and it seems fine so far. It has also been dificult to uplaod ringtones and pictures but I am getting used to this but it is by no means easy. I think mosly I liked the design of hte phone and it functions well so I am happy with it now the other points were just gimics really although I would have liked them to work better.

I have had this phone for two weeks, and so far everything has met or exceeded expectations. It is of good quality, and delivers exactly what I expected. Screen is excellent. Battery life seems superb. I have yet to use the bluetooth functionality, so I can't comment on that.
A point to note - when installing, my phone point was close to the power socket - the plug in power adapter for the base unit sends interference, audible on the telephone, to my ADSL filter from the phone line. Keeping the two items at least 6cm apart sorts this. Regards Mr. David K

This phone is what we were looking for. It is really handy to use your current bluetooth headset in the home too. It's amazing the things you can do whilst still taking or making the call's you need to. The phone looks good and less 'plastic' than others we have looked at. It took a while to read through the manual but it's worth it to get used to the phone. So far - So good!!!!

This is a stunning phone and worth the money. However, the charger design i.e. the phone cradle is rubbish and will probably snap off if you are not careful. The phone sits on a thin plug that stands proud from the cradle and looks flimsy. My Gigaset S645 cradle is a much better design. However, this is still a superb phone.

A great feature packed and slick looking phone but the keys are a little cramped in use and the display resolution could be better -perhaps if they used a smaller LCD they could fix this. Also the backlight brightness and colour is very variable across multiple handsets. Sound quality & battery life is flawless. Best in class!

The phone is full of useful functions and can be highly customized.
The sound quality is very good. The keys are a bit small and this makes it difficult to punch in the numbers without making a couple of mistakes. Regards b.gatessucks

I've had this 'phone for about 3 weeks now and I love it. Not only does it look very stylish, its packed with features and every one works well including bluetooth. For a 'phone that does so much, its remarkably simple to use and the manual is very clear and easy to follow. I've had one other landline 'phone which had the bluetooth feature and, although costing over £70 more than the Siemens, the quality was very poor (looking more like a child's plastic toy mobile!) and the 'phone had to be returned after 6 days as the buttons kept sticking and the menus couldn't be accessed.
I would recommend the Siemens Gigaset to anyone who is looking for a top of the range, feature packed 'phone but who also wants a bit of style. Regards Ms. Anne Warburton

We use a mobile telephone every month or so and are always looking for something with some range that does not look vile and is reasonably slim. The display on this is too large
and the keypad buttons are therefore quite small but other than that it is faultless. Regards Derek
