Product Description The Gigaset M34 USB is a small, easy-to-use USB adapter for computers. It offers you an incredible array of options. Calls on the Internet (Voice over IP) reduce your costs. Messenger services are equally possible. Thanks to the Internet alert function, you can see which of your friends are online and when. Naturally, the Gigaset M34 USB also functions like a conventional ISDN radio adapter, which provides computer connection to the ISDN basestation for cordless Internet surfing. To enable the Internet telephone function, the Gigaset M34 USB comes with the respective software from Skype. Just connect the Gigaset M34 USB to your computer. It will pass the telephone signals from the Internet on to your Gigaset S645, Gigaset S440/445 or Gigaset C350/355. So you can make calls with your Gigaset S44 or Gigaset C35 handset instead of a headset and enjoy perfect quality of service. Important Note : Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony with the Gigaset M34 USB adapter works only if the Skype software , provided with the product, is installed from CD. M34 works well.

The dongle itself isn't particularly exciting - it lights up orange when there's network traffic. It does however link up seamlessly with your Gigaset basestation, handset and Skype client. All working as expected and software setup very straight forward.

Works OK, but some limitations

Seting up the M34 was pretty easy. Put in the CD, load the software, insert the M34 when told to and it connects to the Gigaset base station easily. The connection to Skype works well but I have a couple of reservations about the product. 1) I already had 6 DECT nodes, well the M34 counts as another one, so it silently unregistered one on my others ones, my cordless headset. OK perhaps I might have guessed that this would happen but it would have been nice if the documentation had said that it would limit the number of hand/head sets you could use. 2) The bigger pain is that you can't transfer Skype calls to another extension. I've got a DECT headset, which doesn't have any buttons to place calls. You can just answer them. With normal phone calls you dial from a standard handset set up the call and then apologise to the other person that they'll have to listen to the
