BT Equinox 1200 review

Got one of these for my mother as a gift after getting a BT Diverse 6450 (which i was well impressed with), unfortunatly none of the quality that was in the Diverse seems to have made it into this phone.

The overall build quality of this phone is poor, the rubber palm grips ment to make holding the phone more secure are more like cheap hard plastic then rubber which has no grip.

The Plastic body of the handset looks cheap in that there are very noticable molding lines and uncleaned flash.

The display is very low resolution and appears to be 256 colours, all included wallpapers are hidious. there is also dust actually trapped under the scree, inside the phone, which again comes across as very poor quality.

The ring tones are nasty and i've just set it to the standard 'ring ring.'

The handset is also much larger then the photo's led me to believe (about 6inchs long).

Apart from that the DECT functions as it should.

I HATE THIS PHONE!

The ring tones are stupid, the volume of the ring is too quiet and the screen is very low res.

The phone is slow to respond to ANYTHING you do. if you ring someone and then hang up you need to wait about 10 seconds before it is ready to dial the next number.

If you want a phone to last you don't get this one. If you buy this you will be buying a replacement about 6 weeks later!

only thing that lets this phone down is the terrible sounding ring tones otherwise the best phone around that i have seen this year 2005.
but don't let the ring tones put you off other features make up for this.

Had it a week and I am impressed. The clarity is very good and the handsfree and headset operation are also good. Copied my addresses from mobile SIM card flawlessly meaning I was up and running as soon as the batteries were charged. Downside is the text messaging. The predictive text is no way near as sophisticated as my mobile.
