Easy for an old granny
Mr. jason moss
I bought this for my 80 year old Grandma. She is deaf and very weak. The price for the phone was great value as she can now very easily hear anyone that phones her. It also has a very loud ring, and lights up. I'd say it was idiot proof, but it is even

If you suffer from hearing loss and other phones prove inadequate - look no further.
Mr. Nigel Smith
I am bordering on profoundly deaf, and, until recently, relatively able to communicate by telephone. However, having left a management job to undertake a degree in business, i had become out of practice and with my home phone, despite having a loop system, proving less than satisfactory, that out of practice mindset was compounded by the embarrassment of trying to hear on an inadequate phone. By researching the internet my wife and i uncovered this phone and decided to purchase it, i, admittedly without any particular hope that the mindset i had fallen into would be solved, i.e that the phone would not prove to be as good as the specification description indicated it would be. I was proved wonderfully wrong. It is superb for hearing and even someone like myself with quite severe hearing loss will be able to use this product easily and will be able to hold a satisfactory telephone conversation without any help. I thoroughly recommend it and like me you can get used to hearing on the phone again or perhaps use a ' normal' looking phone without any attachments for the first time. AlexM

Plantronics Clarity C710
Ms. Julia Burgess
We purchased two of these telephones (one for upstairs & one for downstairs) for our elderly parents. The phones arrived within a few days. On trying them out, we found the phones lived up to our expectations. When setting the incoming speech amplifier to its maximum we found that it was deafening to normal hearing people. The incoming ringer is also very loud. Overall, we were pleased with the phones, but we think the build quality could've been slightly better.

Very fit for task
Anonymous
I searched the web for a cordless phone to use in a retirement apartment - good sound quality, clear controls and uncomplicated functions. The C710 was offered by ligo, delivered in very short time and with very good e-communications to back up the sale. The C710 and ligo service have proved entirely satisfactory in every respect.

Great for deaf people but nul points for style!
Susan Holt
This does exactly what it says on the tin - gives you extra amplication! I work at home a lot and being hard of hearing, struggle to hear people on the phone. I was looking for a cordless phone that gives extra amplication. It took me a lot of research to find this one, and I chose this phone largely because of reviews already given on this website by other people with hearing problems. I therefore add my voice to theirs - this is a great phone if you need amplication of higher frequencies. The only downside is it looks and feels like a housebrick, but that I can live with! It would be good if this was featured on the RNID website as this was my starting point.

ENJOYING A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION
Anonymous
I am so thrilled to be able to enjoy a telephone conversation, once again, with my friends, daughters and all the grandchildren. I have tried a few telephones but not one comes anywhere near to the volume and clarity of Platronics Clarity C710.

Just a few niggles

The phone is quite big but easy to set up and use. The amplification is very good, especially with the boost button. It is annoying that you cannot store a name along with a number in the memory. There is a sticker on which to write out the names for each button, but there is no flat surface on handset or base which is big enough to take the sticker!

Mr. kenneth Hamilton
Since purchasing the Clarity C710, I no longer hesitate to answer the phone. The sound quality is superb, and I have not as yet found it necessary to use the boost facility. The quality of the product is matched by that of

The service received from ligo is excellent and the telephone is large with big buttons and has numerous ways to adapt to users preferences. despite this it is easy to setup and the volume can be increased on the fly whilst talking to someone on the handset. If you lose the handset their is a nice feature on the base unit with one button to call it which enables you to find the lost handset. Thoroughly recommended.

Does what it says!

If it's sleek good looks you are after then this isn't for you, but if you are after a phone for your elderly parents who can never hear a word you say on the phone, then it's ideal. Why other phones don't have an effective volume control is a mystery. It seems like such a simple thing to do. The Plantronics unit is quite large and heavy with large keys. It is larger than it looks in the picture because it is quite 'deep'. The volume control is a bit odd in that there is a simple thumb wheel that changes the volume from 1 to 15 and then there is a boost button which, when pressed, changes the volume range from 12 to 32. (These numbers might not be exactly right but you get the idea). Every time you end a call the boost button resets. This means that you have to re-activate it on the next call. For my parents they could do with it on the upper range all the time. The ringer is nice and loud and there are bright visual indicators on both the base station and the handset. Sadly it took 3 months for Ligo to send the unit out due to supply problems and it didn't work when we received it. I tracked the problem down to a faulty line cable (the connector moulding was slightly misformed - a common problem). Rather than have the hassle of sending it back it was easier to buy a £1 cable. I think the phone is expensive for what it is but I can't find anything remotely as good on the market. So I suppose they are entitled to charge what they do. It is a price worth paying to give my parents the confidence to use the phone freely. Highly recommended.

Purchased this phone for my Mother & Father who previously had to use an amplifier on their cordless phone, as they both wear hearing aids. But this phone is excellent they have no trouble hearing well worth the money.

excellent clarity
Mr. daniel bray
excellent phone. can actually hear people speaking. unfortunately the size of it is off putting cant see why it has to be so big. when it rings its like a spaceship. the memory storage for numbers is limited which is another downside, but still good phone for hard of hearing.

Superb!
Ms. Kim Campbell
I have been searching for a cordless phone which could be used by myself as well as my hearing aided mother. She has experienced real difficulty in using telephones for a number of years because of high frequency hearing loss. Even with a digital hearing aid there hasn't been much improvement.....until we obtained the Plantronics Clarity C710 that is. She now enjoys telephone conversations once again and no longer fears the phone often leaving it unanswered rather than having to ask callers to repeat themselves. This is a superb piece of equipment that does exactly what it says......Clarity

Very loud ...
Mr. Donald F. Gillies
So far very pleased with Phone, does exactly what it says in spec. list. I do find that with my hearing loss that sometimes have to use the boost, although with some callers the max volume is sufficent. only drawback is one needs to reduce volume to minimum before using boost otherwise it is deafening! Batteries are standard AAA so when recycle ability wears out one can easily replace with rechargeables or even use disposables in an emergency ( I remember when this was not possible though most cordless are similar now...though not usually with as good power) It would be nice if memory could have contact names entered and my computer does create interference on the phone which does cause some problems however on the whole these are minor criticisms and do not really detract from the phones main reason for purchase. I cannot discern any noticable advantage with the sound shaping clarity switch however that may just be down to my hearing loss...otherwise it does exactly what I required it to do, and is a chunky unit with a very loud base ringer and the visual ringing helps when I am warching TV (with the volume up loud as usual). The buttons are a good size and so far I am very pleased with it. Delivery was as specified and efficient, and the price was good for the unit and equivalent to a competitors phone which did not have so many features , I am surprised that the RNID do not mention this phone on their website and I will email them to that effect for the help of others . I am pleased with the service provided by Ligo.
