Good points
Excelent Battery life, good tone and very good loudspeaker, clear display. Answerphone good.
Bad points Menu takes a bit of getting used to. Although equipped with bluetooth unable to connect with Microsoft Outlook ona PC. Numbers from a mobile have to be sent individually by bluetooth as a business card. However once all the numbers required have been sent, then the whole directory can be sent to the other home phones (one by one). Adygram

I can well assure you you can buy this product with complete and utter confidence! Quality oozes from every crevice of these devices and I can not find anything negative to say about them. 5 full gold stars without a doubt.

I’ve had many cordless telephones over the years ranging from £14.99 to £239.99, on the whole I’d have to say they are generally not ideal.
This is the first Siemens product I have had and I’ve had these for two weeks now. They are quite simply fantastic, the best cordless telephones I’ve ever owned, let me expand. THE GOOD: The battery life (obviously use/service dependant) this for me is fine, never less than five days between charges, if you put 1100mAh batteries in, I bet a light user could get ten days out of them. The display is bright and clearly laid out, with the pictures easily as good as my mobile. The button are reasonable tactile and good size. (I have large fingers) The reception and quality of sound/speech is very good, only breaking up slightly at range. Even on ECO mode I can take a call at my friend’s house six doors down the street. Also they don’t use the standard 2.4GHz I believe they use 3.5GHz so your wireless router doesn’t drop out while you’re on the telephone, bonus if you’ve ever suffered that problem. I’m in the IT business so I did manage to transfer my telephone book from my PC, saves typing in the numbers. (I’ve always hated that each time I’ve changed cordless telephones.) Also be aware that they sort the directory by Surname, not too human friendly, easily fixed though. They can transfer contacts or whole directories with each other so no typing (or downloading) the numbers twice on the other handset. The ability to use a Bluetooth headset with these telephones is a great plus, you can wear your headset without having to carry the telephone with you and never miss a call. If you’re a traditionalist they even have a jack socket for wired headsets. You can even set pictures/ringtones to your contacts like on a mobile telephone. The menu system is generally easy to use, bettered only IMO by Nokia telephones. A friend bought the same set a week after myself and he is very pleased with his choice too. They have so many niceties it’s hard not to mention them all. Bad points THE BAD [BEING VERY PEDANTIC]: The PC S/W is free so don’t expect too much. (This is the only negative thing I can think of about these telephones.) The ringtones are an acquired taste but OK, you can make your own should you wish too. I have an exchange permanent bar on my number so I have to put 1470 if you want a specific person to know it’s you this does not work if you use the international notation for telephone numbers, which you must to use the PC transfer. I’m not sure why Siemens force this on you as they are home phones not mobiles that might jump countries with their owner! That said, I guess that wont affect 99% of people who buy this telephone. Other thoughts Ligo were very helpful and courteous with my enquiries (I research things to death before I buy.) Once ordered they arrived in two days in perfect condition, well done ligo. My friend was so impressed when he saw the phones in action, that he ordered the same ones from Ligo the next day! bmw2000csi

Great review but would have been useful to say how the phone numbers could be transferred from your PC as others say transfers can only be done singly as a business card - not be anonymous! Dimple

VEry useful comments, I also research things for hours. If you think its that good, I'll go for it. Does the answerphone beep or flash for messages?

The phone is easy to set up and intuitaive to use. The instructions in the manual are clear and easy to understand. Although there are a lot of features which can be configured, my wife (a technophobe) only had to read the first two pages of the manual to know everything she needed to know about how to use the handset and answerphone. The menues are easy to use and only take a minute to initially find your way around. Keys click nicely (even with the annoying beeps turned off) so you know they have done something. The sound quality is excellent.
Bad points Whilest you can set the ringer, handset volume, and speaker volumes independantly, there is no button to let you increase or reduce the handset volume while you are on a call. Not really a problem but in would have been a nice to have. The only other niggle is that ringtones do not contain a standard phone sound - download your own ringtones from your PC, but again it would have been nice to have. Other thoughts Siemens' phones are definitely the best on the market for build quality and sound quality. We specifically wanted an answer phone we could control separately, and I specifically wanted a bluetooth feature which would link to my existing bluetooth headset business confrance calls - the Gigaset S685 was the only quality phone I could find with all the features, and it's stylish too. Very happy with this product. Ligo were good value, and the product arrived two days later in perfect order. glan

can anyone help with how to use a bluetooth headset with this handset? I have paired it successfully as a headset, trusted it, but how do you know when its actually connected for when you need to use it after that? does it automatically connect when bluetooth is activated? thank you.

Siemens Gigaset S685 Sextet Dect Phone is essentially plug and go, after a few minutes with the manual to familiarise myself with the menus. Love the call transfer feature - great if you have teenagers with every other call for them - simply transfer calls to other handsets in bedrooms etc.
Bad points Haven't figured out the ringtones yet - I just want a old-fashioned 'ring-ring' but cant' find it, yet. Handset is very lightweight but seems strong enough. Other thoughts No regrets buying this 6-handset system. Terry K

Trading up from a 5 year old phone the S685 is exceptional. The setup was easy and transferring the phone book from my PC was done in minutes. Sound quality is excellent even at the opposite end of the building.
Bad points It would be nice to be able to update all the phonebooks in one go and then for the system to keep them in Sync. Other thoughts After a week with the phone, I would not trade it in for another one. It presses all my buttons.

Battery life is many days, even with talk time included.
The sound quality when hands free is the best I've experienced. Headset jack plug is a bonus, I cant talk and do washing up at same time now Bad points Doesn't stand on a desk too well unless its in the charger (tends to topple if wobbled)

Love this phone, was easy to set up, fun to play with and now either sits looking friendly in its cradle or will stand securely upright wherever you need to put it in order to be sure not to miss a call. The handset is reassuringly weighty and comfortable, feels like quality. The sound is very clear.
Bad points None, I don't ask much though. Other thoughts The bass has its own ringtone which is then joined by the handset ringtone when somebody calls and the phone is in the cradle. Doesn't bother me. The list of calls missed is really handy. Initially I managed to accidentally set it to divert all calls but eventually managed to correct it, this bit was confusing but probably my fault.

Feature rich, excellent contemporary styling, it's a Siemens product so, in my experience, it will be reliable. Not cheap but then you get what you pay for so it's still good value.
Bad points The battery discharge and recharge when setting up the phone is a pain in the proverbial.

ITs not a BT Phone. Ring times are ace.. Takes seconds to setup.. So easy I havn't looked at the manual.
Bad points bit plasticy and design could be a little better. BUT don't let that distract you.. its ace! Other thoughts Ligo is the one stop shop.. VERY efficient and straight forward. Customer service is excellent. IF only other companies were this good.!

Faulty base unit replaced within a few days. The phone is excellent - first class sound and all the features I need. Good answering machine.
Bad points Base unit packed up within a day of receipt. Handbook could have been a lot clearer. It would have been a lot easier if the power lead had been slightly longer (say + 2 feet).

So intuitive and easy to use. After reading through the instruction manual when setting the phones up, I very seldom need to refer to it now. Works brilliantly throughout the house in Eco mode.
Bad points Having to copy directory entries individually to each handset rather than being able to broadcast them. However, it's not a big deal. Other thoughts LiGo service was brilliant - keen price and super fast delivery. Unable to use the SMS function as yet over my Virgin landline - still liaising with the Virgin helpdesk!
