Initially I wanted the BT 7250 answering & cordless system (not a fax/answering machine!) to relieve my overloaded telephone points for best broadband quality, but your very well versed (Sam I think) sales assistant gently talked me out of it by quietly shouting from the rooftops that BT gear is all out-sourced now (I guess the Chinese machine) resulting in a drop in quality, and only Panasonic and Siemens still control & produce their own wares. Certainly the quality of this Panasonic KX-FC245E made in Malaysia, and the cordless handsets made in Thailand leaves nothing to complain about, and the functions are outstanding if not rather excessive. One pleasant perk with the handsets is the 11 automatic redials to a busy number - very handy. I decided to also buy this fax machine as my 6 year old Brother FAX-920 doesn't like broadband, and this Panasonic is perfectly compatible. Another plus is that you can record your own outgoing message, so people really know 'they've rung the right number. Cannot fault sound quality on the handsets either, and cannot understand why other reviews do - perhaps poor line, or position of base unit? (my base unit is next to computer AND has an extension lead added to phone line - both of which the handbook warns against!) Nice touch are the supplied batteries - more expensive Ni-MH (700mAh) which have lasted over a week without charging, albeit with little use.
