KXTCD 820
Mr. Michael MacLurg
An excellent phone. Really handy being able to download a phonebook straight from Outlook. 150 names and numbers in 5mins Software worked well after I sussed that the phone will not accept non-numeric symbols like +, &, @ etc etc. I would have no hesitation in buying this phone again.

a truly brilliant product! It does what it say's on the box, and then some! Very easy to set-up and master, good sounds, excellent reception etc. well worth the extra outlay rather than the others on the market, glad I chose wisely, would recommend this product to all!

USB connection
Mr. Brian Sowter
The software for this works very well. It is easy to generate your phone book from Outlook or enter it directly on the computer. Once generated it is a simple matter to update it and load it each phone. You can also upload th elist from a phone to the PC modify and relaod. Full marks!

Phones are very good and easy to use. Transfer of pictures and user ringtones to second phone is not easy using USBGear software. Panasonic presume that we know about MIDI files - without any explanation! Beware of of the CD (USB Gear) packet which has strong adhesive on the flap. Touch the CD with the flap and you have big problems removing the adhesive. Phones 10/10 Software 6/10

Nice piece of kit
Mr. Maurice Theo
Only had the phones 2 weeks but very satisfied with them. The price is a bit high compared to other twin phones, but the quality seems quite high so I don't mind the cost.

Simply The Best

The Panasonic KXTCD 820 Twin Colour Screen DECT is the best cordless phone I have ever bought. The design and appearance is fantastic, really stylish. Hey guys, even my wife loves it. Following the clear cut instructions it was easy to set up and I had it up and running in no time. The only wee problem I had was setting up the USB software to my PC. However, you can put that down to old age (both me and my PC) but I made it eventually and is great for editing address books etc.. The Panasonic KXTCD 820 Twin Colour Screen DECT feels good in the hand when in use, solid and strudy, and the illuminated key pad is great. The 1.8

Not cheap but a Solid product!

Having over a number of years gone through a few Digital cordless phones, I have finally bought one I know is going to last. I have to admit it wasn't the cheapest item I've ever purchased but the handset is solid and not made of some cheap plastic design that will last a week.....would definately recommend.

Great sound quality
Anonymous
Had the phone a while but i have not had the chance to use all the features. What i can tell you is that i called a customer service number which led me to India (known for poor line quality) i put the sound volume up a bit and it was very clear to my astonishment. Well made piece of telephone equipment by far. Recommended *****

Just the job

Very straightforward to use with large illuminted rubber 'tactile buttons' which is good if you dont enjoy the key tone and switch it off. Handset Key lock is great for young families and the colour display is large, pinsharp and easy to read. Sound quality is very good and even the handsfree mode is a cinch and works reliably upto a few feet away (like any though doesn't work brilliantly when lots of ambient noise around). For the gimmick-conscious you can upload numbers from MS Oultook (other technical formats supported too) via the supplied USB connection to one phone then transfer all corrected data to the other one(s). I had few problems in that the supplied software dropped a few numbers when importing from outlook but simply amended before sending to phone (takes a while to edit it set up categories etc but then 130 numbers always will!). You can also have landline and mobile and one other number agaisnt the same record but this reduces phonebook down to around 130 from 200 - very handy in use though!. Polyphonic ringtones good and varied and editable. there is also a 20 number shared phonebook but you dont seem to be able to copy these from the main phonebook and these are the 20 that you can record yourself saying the persons name so it announces it when they ring (caller ID permitting). On the down side, I have experienced BT phones that have the SIM card upload built in so mobile records can be transferred and this is really useful (especially both ways) and these do not have this feature. The other slight niggle is that you can set the phones to blank the display after 1 min unused but this is ONLY if the handset is not stored in the charging cradle - bit bright if at the bedside for example. On the whole very impressed, only scoring 4 for the niggles mentioned. I am looking forwards to enjoying the Panasonic reliability and I hope a longer life than my previous Phillips Onis set which lasted 3 years of intense use. Very pleased with Ligo service, ease of ordering, email order updates and timely delivery (3 wkg days). many thanks

I am extremely pleased with the Panasonic KXTCD 820 Twin all the features work very well and the clarity of sound is excellent. The feature announcing the caller ID is great, it allows you not to answer pain calls when watching football and the few good programs on TV,or when eating. The service from Ligo was superb, advice was excellent and delivery even better, delivered next morning. Thank you very much Ligo

Great service, easy setup
Richard
Very good service from Ligo, whose multi-set packages weren't completely logical in pricing (but many thanks to excellent sales staff for following through and getting us a fair deal). The 820 is an easy phone to set up and so far (first hour) working very well.

A Great Digital Cordless Phone
Anonymous
This is the best digital phone that I have owned with excellent clarity on the answerphone, large buttons and screen. I also liked the facility to download names and numbers from a PC but the software lets itself down by not allowing the attachment of images before download. Altogether a great purchase and I would not hesitate in recommending it.

90% FAB
Barry Woodward
Just like the other reviewers I'd say these phones are 90% FAB. The 90% is... big buttons; illuminated keypad; colour screen allowing photos of people to be seen easily (for us myopic people what a godsend being able to actually SEE who is calling!); obvious and easy ansaphone; great range; great sound; great connectivity; battery life etc. The 10% is...PC ONLY SOFTWARE (COME ON!); software is blinkered to phone - i.e. despite being USB you can't just mount the phone on your desktop and drag and drop stuff to it; if memory serves me right you can't make associations between files and contacts in software you have to go back to the phone; you have to make any files you use as tiny as possible (4k each) - you might have 200 contacts but try putting a picture to half of them and all your memory has gone before you get as far as custom ringtones; I might be being dense but I haven't been able to figure out how to turn phone off speaker mid call without ending the call!; we've had phone +1 handset since Feb 2006 and it went thru a 'patch' where it would go dead when you picked it up from cradle, but seems to have got over that now. Overall though still the nicest and most featured phone I've ever had!

Top notch, with some _minor_ niggles
Mr. Sasha Loncarevic (sashalon@hotmail.com)
We had a pair of Panasonic DECT phones prior to acquiring these but found that the keypads were getting slightly unresponsive and that keeping the phonebook up to date was painful. The KXTCD820 were the only phones around that had USB (at the time) which made me think that updating the phonebook would be far easier than with the SIM-card reading crop: the idea being that I could simply export my phonebook from Outlook and save all the manual updates. This turned out to be mostly true (I had to do a lot of grepping/munging) but eventually we could download our ~200 contacts to the device without suffering bruised digits. No, we don't really have 200 friends :) however my wife likes to have at hand the mobile/land numbers of all PA members, as well as all parents in the classes of our three children. The phones also allow all/several phonebook entries to be silently copied to other phones (the old set needed each phone to be set into receive/send mode), and in fact can do this with MIDI files (for ringtones; what a treat to hear your MIDI files playing on the phone) as well as pictures. These gadgets are truly amazing in their connectivity and I really only have a few niggles (hence the title): 1. The joystick doesn't seem indestructible and is sometimes a little tricky to use when navigating menus etc 2. Panasonic software is sometimes a little antiquated - why-o-why do they not conform to the text entry method of nearly every mobile phone on the market? 3. My old phones, also Panasonic, do not even do caller ID when using the new base station. I would be over the moon if Panasonic could have included a little more backward compatibilty e.g. so that I could update the old phones' phonebooks with a new handset. Overall, these are stunning phones, and Ligo managed to get them to me within 48hours of their having stock (5 stars for you guys!). I am happy to answer any questions concerning the connectivity/compatibility of these phones - they may not be right for some but I think most would be hard pressed to find any faults.

almost perfect

Top notch phone, great sound, very useful features: esp Voice and Picture caller ID, different ringtones for different categories, v easy to use answermachine. Few v minor gripes: the speakerphone feature can not be started on base unit, also no voice search and dial on phone book, also the one touch speed dial is actually two touch speed dial(!)

At Last!!!
Mr. Jeremy Gough
Truly a product that DOES the job. Critically, no interference issues and good sound quality. Features provide excellent flexibility of use although I've yet to use USB for Outlook contacts to be ported over. Always a downside; I believe this product is now discontinued, probably because it 'ticks all the boxes'!! Thanks to the excellent support and staff at Ligo at least they had the product. BTW the battery life is superb; useful if like me you tend to knatter a lot!! - Thanks Ligo, my second order, and you came up trumps!!! |
