Product Description

The Siemens Gigaset E455 Sextet is a particularly robust phone which resists the usual tests your little explorers subject it to. It’s the first telephone resistant to shocks, water splashes and dust – making it ideal for families. Apart from that, the Gigaset E455 provides you with so many useful features that everyone in the household will benefit from.

The room monitoring function will help you keep an ear on your children when they should be sound asleep. And thanks to the Siemens Gigaset E455’s handsfree function, you can make a call while preparing a meal for the family. Up to 150 numbers can be entered into the phonebook, enough for the whole family and all of your children’s best friends. The Gigaset E455 features an integrated answering machine so you never miss a call when you’re out and about (the 'message waiting' only shows on the first handset).

ECO DECT for a greener lifestyle

ecodect_76

Featuring an energy-saving power supply, the Gigaset E455 uses up to 60% less energy than our conventional cordless phones – so it saves you money and is better for the environment. Like all Gigaset cordless phones, it also variably reduces transmitting power from the handset to base station according to their distance apart – but goes further in a number of other ways. Choosing ECO Mode on this model allows you to reduce the base station’s transmitting power by 80% for all registered handsets. When docked, this phone also reduces the transmitting power of both handset and base station to almost zero. As a result, you can enjoy a more energy-efficient way of staying connected with the world.

hummed and harred, really glad I bought them?? Ms. Suzanne Smith 5/5

I really liked the look/features on the Siemens phone but wasnt sure whether they were worth the money?? Glad to say that after to talking to a gentleman at Ligo about this phone and the other two I had narrowed it down to, I am pleased to say that I luv them. Phone quality is crystal clear, easy to set up and I had six to do, so I was pleased that was easy. They look stylish, better than my old Binatones??? Worth every penny, have already recommended my parents buy new phones, so shortly they will be purchasing soon. Many thanks Ligo for great service all round and the superfast delivery.

I bought the Siemens Gigaset E455 Sextet SIM DECT Phone from Ligo early this year but only set them up last week due to my house renovations.

The phones are great, unfortunately the SIM feature does not work. I can't transfer the numbers from my SIM to the handsets. I have put the SIM card into the base unit and entered my area codes into the handsets correctly (even though the instruction booklet is not a great help here - obviously a german to english translation). However when I go into settings on the handset and press "OK" for SIM transfer, the message "please insert sim" annoyingly pops up all the time.

Can anyone help with this problem as I don't much like the idea of manually inputting 100+ names and numbers into six seperate handsets!!

Thanks
James

Hi Shirby, I had the same problem and found out that its do with having a 3 sim card. Apparantly all others are ok, just not 3. Contacted 3 and it turns out their sim cards are virtually non compatible with most cordless phones, in car phones etc :(

I had to put mine manually into one phone and then from there it tooks a few minutes to copy it to all handsets.

Hi James. Thanks for the explanation. Typical I've got a 3 mobile! I will try my wife's Virgin sim and see if that works. Thanks again

Just trawling reviews for a phone and saw your sim card woes and remembered the same problem with a phone i owned. Turned out to be the phone book numbers were on the mobile phone memory and not the sim. Just had to copy them to sim and then it worked. Good luck

Siemens Gigaset E455 Dave,Bristol 5/5

Hi ,
I just purchased the Siemens E455.
I returned one of the handsets as I thought the screen was scratched but it was a protective plastic film which I had not noticed. I sent it back to Ligo, They were great and sent it back within a couple of days:no charge!
As regards the phone:

1 I have seen one comment about the feel of the keys. I did find them a little awkward initially but I soon got used to them. It is a bit like using a slightly larger style mobile phone.

2 The ringtones are a bit odd but there is an old style phone ring that I am happy with.

3 The SIM card reader was a bit awkward to use. Firstly make sure you copy your mobile numbers to your sim card! As someone else pointed out, set your area code to 0 in bottom RHS and the rest of your area code in the LHS.when setting the phone up. I only managed to get 100 numbers transferred. ..I do not know why as the memory was showing that the phone had 50 entries left. It still saved a lot of work though. I also added H,W,or M after the persons name after the transfer to make it easy to go directly to home, work etc.as it did not store the numbers in quite the same way as my moble.
You can also go to a letter of the alphabet directly without the need to scroll through.

4 I have not used the SMS yet but I did think the predictive text was not quite as sure footed as my Sony Eriksson once again you get used to it.

5 I like the simple styling and the rubberised feel of the edges make it positive to hold.

6 The Sender box is a separate unit which means you can place the phones anywhere.

7 The reception is excellent and the sound clear. (I have no way of comparing as this is my first cordless but it works well for me)

8 I like the fact that you can turn off the display light when it's in its cradle.

9 Although it needs some assembly it really is only a matter of putting in a battery and clipping the back cover into place.

10 I agree with others comments about the manual. It lacks a logical flow but the info is generally in there somewhere. (I wonder if this was a result of it perhaps being in another language initially?)
Overall although they take a little bit of time to set up I would recommend these phones and Ligo was an excellent choice of vendor. Every time I have called I got through to a helpful member of staff quickly.
All the best Dave
