BT Elements wins Mr. Jonathan Stagg 5/5

The BT Elements phone is certainly durable, easy to operate, and gives a good range far better than the usual household DECT phones. We live in an old farmhouse with thick stone walls but with the antenna box in the right place the phone can travel around the house and maintain signal, which is exactly what we need. The hands-free feature is great, so we can talk and work at the same time. Being able to program numbers and scroll through the list on the screen to call is a perfect timesaver. It's a winner with us.

As per usual another BT disaster. The range is nothing near what it says.

we agree, that the BT Elements don't have the extended range (1km) BT is advertising. To find out more how to increase the range of your phone, please check our new liGo Blog and our article about Increasing the Range of your Phone

Yep the range on these phones is worse than any dect phone we have used, we change our handsets about every 9-12months, we thought these might be the answer but unfortunatly the range is that poor we have had to move the base units just so we can make calls 30 metres away in line of sight, anything over that and the call breaks up. 20% of the time when you answer a call the person on the other end cannot hear you, the earpiece volume is so low you sometimes have to put a finger in the other ear to hear the customer (yes i have turned it up). Battery life is a third of the diverse phones.. altogether a very bad phone.

Can't agree with what is said here I have had one of these phones for a couple of years now and found it nothing short of perfect. So perfect I am now considering another one for our other location .

I agree also, the range on the phone is terrible my old DECT phone has a longer range and also the build quality is terrible.

This DECT has nowhere near the advertised range. We have installed several into customers premises onle to remove them and replace with Diverse or Panasonic. Waste of Time. Good Torch though.

Improved Phone but some badly thought-out features Paul Lewis (Communications Manager) 3/5

I purchased one of these phones for use by my MD, to use around the office and also around the grounds of our site. In the past he has used BT DIVERSE handsets and found that the range was weak in some areas so we were hopeful of the improved range.

The range and audio quality appears to be very good, but unfortunately the badly designed chassis has some more dissapointing features. The Torch feature is activated by a large button and this is frequently being knocked accidently and would have been better fitted with a sliding switch or a push button switch with higher resistance.

The other downside is that the belt clip, although it appears sturdy offers no flexibility and causes the phone to slip off of the wearers belt when he/she sits down. There isn't even a notch in the clip to help it stop slipping off the belt. This is a major flaw in the design of the belt clip and in truth, the phone would have been better equipped with a swivel 2 piece clip such as those found at theclip.com As there are also no phone cases etc available for this handset, it seems daft that a phone designed for wearing outside and in rugged conditions - can easily just drop of the belt and have no protection against scratches and the elements.

On a positive note... well done BT for making a handset with a seperate charger and base. (The base is simply designed as an antenna unit, and cannot be used as a charger). This is a great idea, as it means we can position the base in the most appropriate place, and not have to worry about charging the handset in that same location.

Hope this helps you make your decision?

BT Elements Quad Weatherproof Anonymous 5/5

Received goods when promised. Bit confused about set up so rang helpline who were brilliant and got me completely set up with 10 minutes. So very simple to use. Haven't needed to look at instructions - phone buttons are self explanatory. Highly recommended.

Has it got long Range ?. Mr. PETER HOWELLS 2/5

The phone is of solid construction, and very easy to use. The claim of range of this phone must be without anything in the way, it is no more range than any other cordless phone. So it is let down by its so called up to 1 km, that is the same as saying up to infinity but it is not. So it only gets 2* for its misleading claim.

Super sturdy and super simple! Mr. Greg Siddons 4/5

I bought 3 of these for my factory and warehouse. These are EASILY the most sturdy cordless phones I have ever come across. The range is incredible too. Our premises covers 22,000 feet with machines, concrete walls and dense cardboard stock, but these phones never lose their signal!

With zero setup and an idiot proof menu (on a beautifully clear amber display) these are a dream to use. There's even a built-in flashlight operated by a dedicated sunken button! The keypad buttons light up too - which is nice to see on such a robust bit of kit.

The charging base (which is NOT the transmitter base) is very clever. No metal-metal contacts to get dirty or corrode here. The charging is done by induction! Same way as many electric toothbrushes charge up.

It loses a star on the belt clip however. It's just too short with no grip or spring to hold it tightly to your pocket or belt.

To summarise; Great phone - SUPER STURDY, ULTRA SIMPLE and POWERFUL

it's alright, it's ok . . mark t jones 3/5

It's ok so far BUT!. . . at first it didn't work with my ADSL filter so that had to be changed, and I'll have to relocate the transmitter as I'm not getting the claimed transeiver range by a long shot! but there's a lot of metal in my office structure so I'll experiment, also I've replaced the supplied batteries as they don't last long enough, they were 550mAh now 1000mAh.
So in summing up: Disappointed as always with BT telephone products, I always end up regretting having not bought Panasonic! heh ho.

BT Elements Quad Phones Mr. J Robert Gray 4/5

Having a big and long house with thick farm house walls, conventional digital phones, with the standard 30 metre internal range (which reduces significantly through walls), were broadly useless. The robust BT Elements set has solved our reception problems although sensible positioning of the transmitter is still important. A very useful feature of these phones is the internal calling system that the system offers. Each individual phone comes with its own transmitter which is a little unnecessary and wasteful since you typically only need to use one. However, should you need to extend the range of the phones even further (say in a farm yard environment), it is possible to instruct the phones to receive from one of the additional transmitters which may be closer when the phone rings.

Robust and well made Mr. Peter Manfield 5/5

Excellent product does exactly what BT says it does. If you purchase this product you will need to use it with its OWN base station, if you use it with another GAP base station you WILL NOT get the advantage of the additional range, in fact it will probably only work very near the house.

No point in shouting..... Anonymous 4/5 roll over for details

Good points Induction Charging - no contacts to damage!
Torch is extremely useful and effective
Robust case and "solid" feel

Bad points Range struggles to provide a clear signal from within my standard sectional garage/workshop - approximately 25mtrs from the base station (positioned within an upstairs room in the house) - Somewhat dissapointing performance and no discernable improvement on the BT Freestyle it has replaced.....

Other thoughts

Well I suppose I should be grateful in the knowledge that whilst I may have to step outside my workshop (in the rain) in order to get a clear signal - at least the phone is reasonably splash-proof! - I could always wear that silly hat that the children bought me that says "Britains Coolest Dad".............

BT Elements Spectrum 4.5/5 roll over for details

Good points Found phones fairly easy to set up once I sorted out some minor points

Bad points May be useful to point out that twin phones require to be registered initially to their own bases, before you can set both phones to one base.

Other thoughts

Overall experience to this point quite good.
