MagicBox Touch DECT
Anonymous
I've had this phone for 6 months now and am on this site looking for another because it has to be the most annoying phone I have ever used and it is driving me mad! The touch sensitive plate is often TOO sensitive and I have lost count the number of times I have been cut off during a phone call for just holding the phone to my ear! Also, the background light goes off after dialing so if you make a phonecall where you have to use the keypad to respond to options, as so many companies have you do these days, you can't actually see the numbers on the keypad! I want a phone with proper buttons with numbers on! Definately form over function. 1 star for looks.

Very pretty phone!!

I've just had these phones for about a week, but I'm really pleased with them. They look amazing - the way there are no numbers until you are using the phone. The only one thing I would comment badly on is the blue light - I put one of the phones in the bedroom, and have had to turn it in towards the wall because the 'standby' light really is quite bright. But aside from that, I'm very happy with them.

Lovely Classy Phone
Anonymous
I have these phones for a week now and have had no problems. I did read the instructions though and pick the phone up from the rear. I've never had them cut me off the optical sensor works fine to disable the keypad. Handsfree operation has a very sensitive mic and has no noticable change to the caller which is very useful. I find it a loteasier to use than I imagined and its looks are so classy!!

These phones are rubbish and will drive you mad!

Like many other people had said before, these phones cut you off during use. There are some built in controls to change the touch settings, but they are ineffective. We have been using these for approx 6 months and we are now just so annoyed by them we are going to buy some new phones with real buttons! There is a support line number with the handbook, but they have NO advice on this problem. Terrible phones, you have been warned.

Won't hang up...
Pauline
Great looking phone but after a lengthy phone call it seems impossible to hang up except by putting it back on the base - not always practical. Trying to decide it this is by design or it's faulty! mandy

Superb!

Just taken delivery of twin with answerphone, so can't comment on life of equipment etc. I think some other reviewers either had faulty phones or they hadn't read page one of the set-up instructions. (Or the manufacturer has made later improvements). Volume of earpiece can be set fairly high and is more than adequate. Keys can be reactivated for making further key inputs. Touch sensitivity is switched off once the handset makes contact with your ear. I think the main thing you need to be careful of is to pick up the phone from the rear and edges (as instructed) whilst the pad is active. Probably not an easy phone to be used by a visitor who hasn't picked one up before. Minor complaint: messages and prompts all seem to end in a rising intonation (bit like some Australians...... maybe the Chinese manufacturer has been learning English from 'Neighbours'!

Great looks, poor everything else.

Great looking looking phone in sleek black. However I'm on this site to buy a new phone. Far too sensitive, you end up cutting people off. Now phone does not work at all and only 4 months old. Style over substance.

Good Phone but ...
Anonymous
it's just too sensitive! If you hold phone to your right ear, during a call, it's that sensitive that the speaker button keeps getting pressed. Likewise, if held to the left ear, the button that ends a call keeps getting pressed, hence you get cut off. Other than that, no complaints.

you have to admit they are lovely phones, but the 1 problem with them is the volume of the ear peice.... its useless!! i feel like im inserting the phone in my head trying to hear the person on the other end!! and thats on the loudest settings! dont buy if your in any way deaf!

Brilliant!

Lovely pair of phones, very designer-looking, they get lots of comments. I would agree with one of the previous reviewers though - the blue standby light is very bright and so not really suited to bedrooms. But other than that, I haven't found a single thing to complain about! I received the phones the day after ordering, no problems setting them up. 5 well-deserved stars.

Magic Box Touch DECT
GP
The phone stands out of the DECT crowd that I could find through an online search. Good design although the sticking of the front panel could be coupled with the back side a bit more elegantly. Perhaps being a touch sensitive plate makes it a bit trickier, still, I think it can be done better. The blue LED indicators on the bases of the phone and the second handset charger stand are too bright. Otherwise the blue background light on the black pannel makes it very nice looking. Very good set of features. Works well so far. Overall - quite satisfied. |
