Jacob Jensen Design Conquers the Analogue Telephone

For over 50 years, Jacob Jensen Design has been indisputably one of the most–if not the most–influential industrial design studios. Jensen-designed appliances, gadgets, and even simple kitchen implements like a fruit bowl have become modern classics and continue to be produced 20-30 years after they were first launched.
The JACOB JENSEN T-1 telephone is the studio’s first try at designing for communications accessories. A brief appearance in the recent holiday film, Love Actually, was enough to make an impression on people, many of whom set off to stores (after watching the film) in search of the elusive telephone. It’s is one of the smallest analogue phones on the market today, not to mention one of the easiest to use.
Jacob Jensen Designs is also known for their commitment to functionality fluidly combined with beauty, and this T-1 is no exception. The audio quality is so clear, one wouldn’t guess it was an analogue, not a digital telephone. In some respects, audio quality is even clearer than in digital telephones. The Jacob Jensen T-1 telephone looks well on its way to becoming a modern classic.
The Danish design studio is also looking at venturing into other communication devices. A DECT digital cordless telephone is in the works, as is a telephone headset that they say will change the way we view and think about headsets in the present.
