Siemens has another line-up of well-structured cordless phones that not only exhibit attractive builds but also demonstrate a good range of standard user features. Usability is not a problem with any of the units in question: each one packs quite a punch in the way of functions.

The A160 along with the A165 offers the basic array of features, notably including missed call lists so that you can check if anyone called the two minutes you were away from your desk. The fact that both units also have CLIP feature will make it easy for you to identify your caller. So no need to suffer from apprehensive musings, wondering whose call it was that you missed since if the name of the caller has already been entered into the phone’s system, then you may be certain that you’ll have a pretty accurate idea of who it was.

Irksome cordless phones do exist—they do. You may be quite familiar with them. For one, these are the cordless phones that employ menu buttons that provide no more than pill-like bumps in their control panels for the humble finger to settle on. Admittedly, such things are not often a matter of great concern but when you have had large fingers all your life, this bit of news may come off as an offending electronics feature. After all, why the prevalence of mini buttons? Though they may look attractive, they fail to offer a reliable support for users.

The most commonly irritating result of having to contend with such buttons are frequent misdials. Though you do not mean to enter this number or that, your finger, in the lack of sufficient space to light on, just naturally slides over to the one next to it—thus, obliging you to cancel out the wrong enter and punch the appropriate number. Again, this does not seem to radiate the intensity of a life-and-death situation—that is, if it happens only once or twice in the weekly course of your call transactions. But if this sort of thing occurs every time you call someone, it’s quite a bit maddening, an outrage, even. No one should have to tolerate such inefficiency in their cordless units.

Siemens understands this very basic fact, which is indeed apparent in the run of wireless technology gadgets that they have provided—and continue to do so—the public with all these years. This unstinting pursuit of the ideal is evident in many of their products, like the phones in their A series, the Gigaset A160 and A165.

Impressive Functionality and Practicality: the A160

A considerable number of consumers don’t buy their cordless phones at a la-de-dah whim. For those who are quite particular in their preferences when it comes to communication devices, numerous factors have to be considered with great caution before they can decide on the cordless phone to take home.

More often than not, though, entrenched opinion on these matters emphasizes two main attributes: functionality as well as practicality. These two go hand-in-hand like cream and cookies, peanut and butter, strawberries and banana—all right, perhaps not the last one. But you get the drift.
