Cinram International Income Fund plans to extend its business interests into the telecom industry. Locating company headquarters in Toronto, Cinram International Income Fund has already signed a multi-year supply contract with Motorola, one of the top mobile cordless phone providers in the industry.
As the world’s largest and most trusted names in CD and DVD distribution, Cinram International is set to manage the packaging as well as delivery of Motorola’s mobile cordless phones and additional accessories to the North American client base of the company. One of the top Motorola phones are those marketed under the company’s Razr brand.
Details on the financial aspect of the deal were not divulged. Cinram also gave no estimate on the number of digital telephones that it will be shipping. Dave Rubenstein, who is the chief executive of Cinram, disclosed that the contract may last from two to six years. Cinram will conduct tests on the mobile cordless telephones and their corresponding parts to see if all are working as they should. Cinram will also eye the program, assemble, package and if the products meet exacting standards, finally ship the products. In addition to these, the company is also ready to accept old phones in order to mend them and outfit them anew, with an eye for what works, stylishly speaking.
Motorola gave a nod to the agreement because of the long-standing reputation that Cinram enjoys. Motorola’s senior vice-president of logistics, Tim Cawley, stated “By consolidating our North America mobile handset supply-chain operations with Cinram, Motorola will be able to offer expanded, state-of-the-art logistic services, bringing further value to our wireless partners and customers.”
