Web Cameras Ice Down a Hot Situation

With a host of tasks that e-gears are widely known for these days, especially devices like cordless phones and headsets, somehow learning that web cameras—aside from providing us with a portable and extremely handy means of creating photographs as well as allowing us with the delightful side-benny of being able to lug around our treasured picture galleries with us every which way or place we go—are now fulfilling another purpose.

Surveillance duties were recently assigned to a number of web cameras by Israeli authorities in Jerusalem. The devices now stand guard over the controversial hotspot that Jews and Muslims have been arguing over for quite some time. Renowned among Jews as the Temple of Mount and as the Noble Sanctuary for Muslims, on the other hand, the excavation of the site is giving rise to a couple of complications and disputes largely grounded on irreconcilable religious differences.

It seems that both camps are quite convinced that the current digging project can only lead to a major upheaval for all involved and though officials of both parties are trying to reach a compromise, their people are less than willing to comply with such arrangements. Reports of friction between members of the excavating team and locals are being witnessed. And at the moment, though the placement of web cameras on the site has managed to placate a few, a great many remain unsatisfied with the entire situation. Though it is understandable that each camp is looking out for the best interests of their respective religious denominations, some believe that the ongoing discussion has all the earmarks of turning into a sort of diplomatic warfare. Unless something intervenes, an impasse seems imminent.

If you wish to hear a few of the particulars, you may want to read up on this article here.

Indeed, just when we thought that e-products performed nothing more than silly, frivolous and oftentimes, ridiculous purposes in the great scheme of things, news items of this sort remind us quite forcefully of the first reason why such technological innovations like these web cameras, these headsets, these cordless phones and all the other electronic tech-gadgets that have been made possible today, were devised in the first place: it’s to simplify things, to improve the way we live our lives. The only hitch in this wonderful arrangement seems to lie in us.
