Plantronics Ltd awarded prestigious ISO 9001: 2000 certification
Swindon, UK. - Plantronics Ltd. today announced to be one of the first companies within the telecoms industry to achieve the prestigious ISO 9001: 2000 quality control certification. Plantronics Ltd. is a subsidiary of the world’s leading manufacturer of communications headsets, Plantronics Inc.
“Some 18 months ago Plantronics secured firm commitment from senior management and embarked upon the development of a paperless Electronic Business Improvement System E-Bis. This was successfully launched as a working system in 2002 and covers all EMEA processes, including those not previously covered by ISO 9001:1994.” Alan Walton, EMEA Plantronics Quality Director.
The IS0 9001 certification is an internationally recognized set of quality management requirements with an emphasis on customer satisfaction. Its latest version, the ISO 9001:2000 replaces the previous ISO 9001:1994. During its transition from ISO 9001:1994 to ISO 9001:2000, the UK office widens its scope of registration that includes five other European operations; Hoofdorp, Cologne, Madrid, Milan and Paris.
“Conforming to the rigorous standards set in ISO 9001:2000 demanded a lot of time and effort from each Plantronics employee,” Walton said, “But the time and money we’ve invested, and continue to invest, will have a lasting effect on the quality products and services our customers can expect. It is a great achievement to be one of the first telecoms companies to attain the new business standard.”
The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) has established demanding quality assurance models against which businesses can be audited. These standards are widely respected as a goal for companies with a desire for continual improvement not just in products but all aspects of operation.
