There are great names in the industry. Great brands and great products. But sometimes, as the years go on, the quality of the products created by these well known names start to go down. And sometimes even, those companies that are not so popular are the ones which are able to produce and market gadgets that break through the norm.

This may not be the BT Mango Black and Plantronics C65 Wireless Headset’s story but this sure is the story of Netgear’s Skype phone.

As we all do know, Netgear is actually a brand that we are not so familiar about. Perhaps a name that we sometimes pass by but we do not immediately recall when we need to. But it sure does look like Netgear has successfully set out an important innovation and revolution in the industry and in the world of telephony.

So how does Netgear fit into the telephony scene? Well, if you have been thinking about Skype phones, you are certainly getting warmer. But the real deal is that Netgear has been one of the first companies to actually market and sell a Skype phone that does not need a computer to run. But still, you are able to make complete use of all the features and services that Skype has to offer by simply using Netgear’s Skype phone.

Connecting to the Internet would also be easy. All you would be needing is a WiFi connection and you are all set. There is no need for a computer to be running nearby. And in this sense, it would be total freedom from wires and cables.
