RTX DUALphone 3088 Twin for Skype (no PC required)

Average Customer Review:

Finally a cordless Skype phone that does not require a PC. Just connect the DUALphone base station to your broadband connection, and then you can talk free of charge with your Skype friends or call other landline numbers worldwide – either using the extremely low SkypeOut rates or as usual via your regular landline operator. The popular Skype user interface and the attractive colour display gives you tomorrow's telephone today and for the future, because it is easy and simple to download new software directly from the phone. The phone has superior sound quality, is naturally cordless and has a range of up to 300 metres. It is easy to install, easy to use and a natural choice as your conference phone.

   a good skype phone, 25th Apr 2007

Have used this skype phone previously at a friend’s house and I was won over immediately at its ease of use. Purchased this set of two and immediately put them to task as soon as the ligo delivery arrived the next day. Connecting the base station to both the Ethernet and the landline was straightforward, as was registering the second handset to the base station. Using skype was a breeze as well, since I have an existing account. I could also access my skype contacts through the phone which is a good feature.
Generally the menu interface is easy to understand and the keys though a bit tough were easy enough to press. The best discovery was that sound quality for overseas calls was superior to that of skype on a PC. What I disliked about this phone was you couldn’t store contacts for making landline calls. All landline numbers that you store in the telephone are automatically called through skypeOut. You have to dial the numbers if you want to make a landline call. I still haven’t maximized the possibilities of these two phones. I’d like to try attempting a conference call via skype in the future.
Regards Jack Haley

Skype no PC, 18th Jun 2007

It's an OK phone but missing some feature in my opinion. You cant's send text messages or conference. But it's nice to see your credit on screen and is generally easy to use. I bought two phones but couldn't find the instruction on how to connect two handsets to one base station but it's so very easy! I would say it's a good phone.

   Twin Dualphone, 14th Jun 2007

Excellent product - a little tricky to set up both handsets (one registered automatically, the other didn't) but got there in the nd.
Also seems to provide a second base station (it's really just two units) so you may be able to set up two Skype lines - discuss?

   RTX DUALphone 3088 - user friendly!, 3rd Jul 2008

This phone was not my first choice as originally I had ordered the Phillips version, but this ended up being out of stock and so I was offered this phone as an alternative. As it turns out this phone has delivered on all aspects that I wanted and needed from it... primarily the Skype facility and landline choice plus caller I.D. I have found that when Skype is struggling with a weak signal and the quality of the calls are poor on the laptop, I seem to get a slightly better quality call using the phone handset, which is very welcome as this has been happening a lot over the last month (June 08)! Plus it was significantly cheaper than the Phillips phone!
