I am really happy with this product. It's a great piece of kit and enables me to chat to friends in the US and family in Australia for free! No more exorbitant prices for overseas calling. Thanks for the fast delivery of the item too!

Excited Then Disappointed, 8th Aug 2007

What a fabulous looking and easy to use product, but unfortunately it doesn't deliver all the goods. Smart looking phone and the first to combine landline and Skype, only to find there is no inbuild address book to add landline numbers to, and you can't add people on your Skype contact list who aren't on Skype i.e. set up a dummy user to install all their landline phone numbers, so nice idea but not the full package yet, since you have to type in landline numbers from your own memory... how 80's!!!!

Voicemail, 13th May 2007

Whilst generally a slick product - as you'd expect for the money it costs - you get the feeling that it's more of a Skype phone than it is a landline phone. For example, there is no built-in answerphone which means that you need to sign up for BT1571 or another equivalent service to get Landline voicemail. In theory you can get the phone to indicate that you have new landline voicemail but neither Philips nor BT are able to tell you quite how. And although you can programme the 1571 number into the phone, it's less key presses to simply dial 1571 if you want to check for voicemail. The Skype integration is excellent although since it appears to other Skype users that you are permanently on-line, it actually makes that particular Skype feature rather redundant.

I’ve read a lot of rave reviews for this telephone both in magazines and on the internet. When I had finally tried it for myself at a mate’s flat, I was completely won over by both its ergonomic design and superb features. Good thing I’m past due for a replacement telephone system, I’ve had my handsets for over 5 years. The only thing keeping me from buying the Philips Skype phone was the price tag. That is, until I saw this bundle. It’s still a somewhat hefty price, but for two Skype phones that can double as landline phones, this is a steal. It’s so easy to use! Now, I can take an internet call on one handset, and my flatmate can take a landline call on the other. Wicked.

VOIP841, 4th May 2008

I have bought 3 of these and have had problems with 2 of them stuck in "system starting up" mode. This renders phone useless and is a hassle to reset (for non-techie mother on other side of world) and can occur randomly. Looks beautiful but not reliable as a desktop solution. Also doesn't support more than one caller. I wouldn't recommend unless you are tech savvie.
