Highly recommended. It does exactly what it says on the box - and more!

Good points
Easiest set-up of any IT product I ever bought. Very intuitive interface and menu structure. Integrates 100% with Skype. If your family uses Skype and a land-line, you need this phone.
Bad points The buttons are very "rubbery" and give poor feed-back. the print on the buttons is also very small. This is the only area where the phone falls down. However, once you get used to them - it is not such a big deal. Other thoughts If you purchase this phone, make sure you upgrade the firmware to the latest version. You may have to go through the firmware upgrade cycle more than once, as it may be necessary to load interim version before latest version upgrade can take place. When I purchased the phone, I was initially dissapointed with the quality of the sound, however the firmware upgrade sorted this out. Firmware upgrade is simple - just follow instructions in the book. Ellen

Does this type of techonolgy work in countries like Morocco? Gary

Excellent phones! I work overseas and have used these phones in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Australia. My freinds and family call me on my Skype number as if they was calling a neighbour in the UK. Easy to use. Saved me a fortune in roaming mobile phone bills! Asr

My sis was in Saudi and now Bahrain. Phone works well for both countries. As long as you have broadband and a wireless router to plug into your laughing. You don't have to connect your landline if you prefer not to. Besides you may have an answer machine. So if you can use Skype on your computer you should be able to use this phone in that country. To use the landline in other countries just double check the phone socket connection. You may require a converter - as with any UK phone abroad.

So easy to set up no problems connecting to Skype. No sound quality problems so far. Best bit for me is how if you have a SkypeIN number and have the landline connected you have 2 phones in one with each line identified by different ring tone so you can answer it acordinaly. Ideal for running my internet business from home even less overheads.
Bad points No bad points Other thoughts Suggest that you set it up so all outgoing calls go via Skype and press the green button and then dial number if you wanted to make a landline call, saves going through the menu. Buy one today, you will not be disappointed Hills

Fab is all I can say. Just made the first calls from new phones and cannot believe the quality. If you use Skype a lot then these are the phones. My only negitive comment is the cable on handset stations is a bit on the short side. jojo

can you use this in conjunction with your landline phones or do you have to give up current land line phones (they are new!), i was hoping i could use it as an extra phone

Excellent Product!!!!, Combined With SkypeOut will work out a lot cheaper than standerd phone lines

Good points
Easy to use, even my computer illiterate grand mother is using this!!, people dont even realise that they are using skype or are being called over skype.
Cheapest option compared to other VOIP Skype Phones, Excellent sound quality, Easy Setup. Bad points NONE FOUND SO FAR!!! Other thoughts Use this phone with SkypeOut to replace your normal phone line, the cost savings are phenomenal. I have worked out that to run this phone for a year costs less than running a normal landline for a month!!. Use Ligo for an excellent service

Very easy to install, the options for the phone are easy to find and adjust.
Have set up all calls to go out via Skype, and incoming calls are via land line. System handles skype and land line calls at the same time. The latest skype subscriptions make this type of setup really worth while. The cherry on the cake is that you don't need a PC switched on for this to work. Bad points The buttons on the keypad could be better - they need to be pressed a little more firmly than you would on a mobile phone. Other thoughts Great battery life Asr

Yes- but for this price and capability the buttons aren't really a problem!

Skype, but not as we know it.
Mr. David Fensom
Well, I loved the idea of Skype, and as I needed to phone Japan on a regular basis, thought that I would sign up. The service is very good, but the only downside is that you need to have your PC switched on all the time if you want to be available 24/7. Not so with this little beauty! Simply plug the base unit into your broadband router, and the other line into your standard telephone socket, and you've got a DECT phone, that has the best of both worlds! You will appear as logged into Skype, and if anyone calls you, the phone rings like a standard phone. It's as simple as that. If you want to dial someone, you can either make a free skype call if the other person is on-line, or if you want you can store their number as a 'SkypeOut' call. This is such a simple peace of kit to set up and use. Just remember that Skype rates only really save you money on International calls. If you are going to make a lot of 'SkypeOut' calls locally, or to a mobile, most of the time your fixed telephone line will offer better value. The beauty of this handset, is that you can select which service to route the call over each time you select a contact. Great peace of kit - would highly recommend.

Great Phone - Bad firmward
David Whittle
I really want to love this phone. I brought it to replace my original dual phone which is aging and losing its display. The unit is small, sleek and basically looks great. HOWEVER the firmware leaves alot to be desired. The original release version R80 does not support DTMF, which meant for conference calls or any tone based menu system this phone is useless. Now the firmware can be updated and its highly likely that DTMF will arrive one day. However the two releases to date of the firmware have been less than well received. They actually withdrew the 2nd release. I've now updated to the latest release and my calls are all clipped and cannot revert this time. So out with the trusty old dual phone. Don't get me wrong, this is a great piece of kit and when they sort out all the bugs in the firmware it will be brillant, but be aware of these issues before buying.

RTX DUALphone 3088 - user friendly!
Anonymous
This phone was not my first choice as originally I had ordered the Phillips version, but this ended up being out of stock and so I was offered this phone as an alternative. As it turns out this phone has delivered on all aspects that I wanted and needed from it... primarily the Skype facility and landline choice plus caller I.D. I have found that when Skype is struggling with a weak signal and the quality of the calls are poor on the laptop, I seem to get a slightly better quality call using the phone handset, which is very welcome as this has been happening a lot over the last month (June 08)! Plus it was significantly cheaper than the Phillips phone!

Happy with purchase
Paul de Zwart
Buying a cordless Skype phone has transformed the way I use Skype because as someone who likes to walk and talk, the headset and mic setup were never my thing. The RTX DUALphone was easy to set up and was up and running in minutes. It has a menu similar to a mobile phone and a backlit screen and obviously works equally well as a DECT phone if plugged into the landline socket. I have been calling rather challenging numbers such as mobiles in the Kuwait and 9 times out of 10 I have no problems, though on a Skype call you cannot (seemingly) enter numbers to connect to an extension. Besides that shortcoming, my only other complaint is that the phone, though sturdy, does not have the most tactile and responsive keypad.

This is a superb piece of kit, it looks and feels like a normal DECT phone. Once connected to your land line (if you want this function) and to your router power up the base and the handset, create an account or log on if you already have one, you will probably find it will want to do some updates. Let it do these (it will take a while) Once all this has finished you are ready to go. The function that tells you how much credit left is very useful. If I had a gripe it would be that the handset buttons are a bit hard to press. Overall a great product. You do get a SKYPE voucher in the box which on mine indicated it had expired however when I keyed the info into SKYPE it accepted it no problem.

3088 Dualphone comments
Mrs. Gladys Baker
Bright, clear display, easy to navigate menus. Nice looking phone. Can be used to make regular landline calls as well as Skype. Skype to Skype calls are very good in terms of audio clarity, Skype to landline is much more of a problem. Voices can sound muffled and slightly distorted. The good news is that the lack of clarity on some Skype to landline calls is in no way related to the Dualphone 3088. It's simply an issue with the current Skype-out service which is still in the beta development stage. The dualphone 3088 allows firmware to be upgraded very easily. Overall it's a great phone!

One of the best Skype phones
Cora
IMO this is one of the best Skype phones available today. This DUALphone offers an easy-to-use and intuitive Skype user interface that lets even first time users get the hang of it in just a few minutes. It’s also quite easy to install as there is no need for a PC or software installation. Simply plug it in directly to your broadband router or modem, establish a connection and you can make Skype calls immediately. We had no problems with it and were using it almost immediately after taking it out of the box. The overall design of the handset is sleek and modern although some may find the materials a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the phone does feel solid and durable and are most likely so. We’re satisfied with our choice. :-)

RTX DualPhone

This is a great piece of kit, its very easy to setup - just plug in an ethernet cable and your phoneline and you are on your way. It automatically logs into Sykpe for you and you can manage all your contacts from your PC or the Phone. I use it for SkypeOut and regular telephony but it supports the other services like Voicemail and SkypeIn. Other things I like are the flashing light when you have missed a call or other skype event. My only gripe is that I have got very used to illuminated displays on mobile phones and it would be a great feature on this phone too.

a steal you shouldn't miss
David from Suffolk
I’ve seen my fair share of Skype phones and I can say this RTX Dualphone 3088 offers the best features for its price. Anybody can get connected to Skype in an instant using this phone, and at the same time stay connected to standard telephone lines. If you need a Skype phone that delivers the goods, go grab one of these. And at only £80, this one’s a steal!

Good points
Very clear sound and far better quality than using Skype from pc to pc. Easy setup and no PC required.
Bad points Slightly cheap looking finish reminds me of some 90s mobile phone. Phone base units are rather large compared to other cordless phones. Expensive! Other thoughts A very good product. Firmware upgrade is recommended on first setup and it completed on both phones with no problem at all. I can't comment on the battery life too much as we've only just got them.

great for regular wireless use of Skype

No need to keep a PC on, just plugs into your router and normal phone. Met my expectations as someone who uses skype a lot. My only gripe is that the keys are a little too stiff to press.

Good points
Obvious good point is the ability to make skype and non skype calls from one handset.
Bad points Sound quality not the best but acceptable. Does anyone do a phone with a normal ring tone any more?? Key pad is not the easiest to use (a bit clunky). Other thoughts Quick and easy to set up, does the job if not a design or function world beater.
