Good range for keeping an eye on the kids
Anonymous
We bought the Doro WT87 because of the advertsed longer range. Our existing walkie talkies (Oregon Scientific TP-329) do not work well with the hilly and wooded terrain around our house. The Doro does have a much better range and is usable for what we need, i.e. to give to the kids so they can explore the countryside but still be in touch. Don't expect miracles, but performance was noticeably better. Other than that they have all the usual features and are small and lightweight. A nice feature is the ability to lock all the menu controls, to make sure kids fingers/curiosity do not change channel part waythrough their adventure. The 5th star is reserved for any walkie talkie that has an ever better range.

Good points
All
Bad points Can't find any Other thoughts It's fantastic I can truly say I can't find anything to complain about, we have 6 acres of land as we bread Dartmoor ponies, I walked to the furthest point and Julie walked in the opposite direction she rang me I answered the sound was as clear as if she was standing next to me no interference at all. Now Julie can't ignore me when the phone rings and it's for her and she's down the field "Yes" Also handy when Julie is riding just in case there's a problem Thank You Regards Terry

Very pleased with this product. Range reasonable in conditions I used them and great way of keeping in touch on holiday.

Great, small size radios
Anonymous
These radios are tiny and have a high quality exterior finish. I tested them around a hillside and down a major A road and the range was easily 2 miles. Batery life also seems good, standby around 50 hours in my test (admittedly with little use).

Good points
Seem to be better build quality than some Oregon units we have, and better feature design, e.g. the separate ring button. With the Oregon units our kids are constantly inadvertently initiating a ring-tone.
Bad points I think the quoted 10km range is highly optimistic. Other thoughts Overall we're pretty pleased with the units. |
